History and purpose of EPTDA

The EPTDA was founded in 1998 as the European Power Transmission Distributors Association. Its aim is to bring together the players in the mechanical power transmission and motion control (PT/MC) industry.

The Mechanical Power Transmission and Motion Control (PT/MC) industry covers a wide range of products for powering machinery, equipment and manufacturing industries. These products are found in a myriad of industrial and everyday applications and devices. PT/MC distributors and manufacturers serve industries as diverse as automotive, mining, pulp and paper, food and beverage, wind energy, packaging, forestry, etc. As well as the MRO (maintenance, repair and operations) and OEM (original equipment manufacturer) markets. Industrial distribution plays a key role in the supply chain, providing not only products but also services and maintenance.

The event was initiated by a group of power transmission and motion control (PT/MC) professionals. They believed in bringing distributors and manufacturers together on a common platform.

EPTDA has grown to become the leading organisation in the mechanical power transmission and motion control industry. It brings together more than 230 certified companies from around the world. EPTDA has built a solid reputation and has become a reference channel for all industry decision-makers seeking the highest level of networking and business opportunities. Its annual business congress is attracting increasing attention.

Three days of the Congress

News: 2024.09.12-15. EPTDA Annual Business Convention venue: Gothia Tower Hotel, Gothenburg, Sweden

This year’s event was held at Gothia Tower Hotel in Gothenburg from 18 to 20 September. The three-day event was an excellent opportunity for manufacturing and trading companies to establish future partnerships.

On the first day, the new members of the EPTDA association listened to a warm-up lecture to help them settle in. Then they were able to admire the latest innovations at the World of Volvo exhibition. Finally, they had the chance to get to know each other over dinner, attended by more than 360 people.

The morning of the second day was filled with very useful presentations on a variety of topics. For our colleagues, the most interesting presentation was about the increasing integration of artificial intelligence into everyday work. (Nearshoring Supply Chain – Disruptions and the role of AI.) Afterwards, the much anticipated MD-IDEX (Manufacturer and Distributor Idea Exchange) programme started. This aims to bring manufacturers and distributors together to share valuable information and discuss industry trends while building networking capital. All of these contribute to the development of successful long-term partnerships.

The morning of the third day also featured interesting presentations – for example on the role and position of women in the industry – followed by discussions in 15-minute blocks with short breaks. During the breaks, the EPTDA organisers provided refreshments, coffee, soft drinks and snacks to make communication even more efficient.

Our colleagues found the participation very useful and would like to continue it in the future to represent our company even more effectively in the mechanical transmission segment.
