Two of our colleagues – Soma Füzi IT specialist and Péter Farkas process developer – gave a presentation to our colleagues. They talked about the IT developments of the last 2 years. They described where we started from, where we are now and what developments we can expect in the next period. All this was illustrated not in IT language, but with everyday examples. They made it clear to everyone how much work is involved in organising some 20,000 products, including nearly 5,000 of our own.
IT development – registration systems
In the course of IT development, our colleagues have developed systems that greatly assist in tracking production. Of course, we do not produce all products at the same time. However, our tools, machines and range of materials allow us to think in such a broad spectrum and take into account the products that could potentially be manufactured. For example, we can produce a sim ring in 5 different materials x approx. 400 sim ring sizes x 2 (with and without dust cover) = 4000 sim ring types.
In the first part of the presentation, Soma Füzi presented systems that are partly operational and partly under development. These – after a minimum of training – will make production and inventory management tasks much easier. One example is the order picking system, which tracks the sales process from order receipt to delivery. The production tracking system provides up-to-date information on whether the production processes are running at the right pace in a particular part of the production process. This enables flexible and well thought-out management of worker schedules and tasks.
The data obtained should be organised and visualised. It should also be ensured that everyone has access to the necessary information. Power BI has been introduced to help you do this. And for data storage, we have started to migrate to SharePoint.
Of course, in order to make these systems work, to enable our staff to provide data on the right tools and interfaces, we have had to and still have to expand our IT machinery. This is how Soma Füzi concluded his presentation.
Information Technology Development – SAP
In the second half of the forum, Péter Farkas gave an enlightening presentation entitled “SAP – buzzword or tool?”. He tried to give a detailed introduction to our corporate management system, which is still considered by many as a “bogeyman”. He tried to bring it closer to the employees with illustrative examples. SAP is the basis for the systems that are popular today, and it is also the backbone of our own webshop and the data we share with various commercial sites. So, if you want to fill it with meaningful and accurate data, this system will definitely help.
So, if you are filling it up with sensible and accurate data, this system is definitely a help.
Today, increasingly sophisticated IT solutions, process tracking and analysis methods allow the time needed to gather and analyse the information needed for management decisions to be reduced to a matter of minutes. This is true even in cases that used to take several hours. SAP Business One, Power BI, Webshop, Production Tracking enhancements – all increasingly powerful tools for the business.
