During informal discussions, the Rubber Industry Association invited renowned speakers to give afternoon presentations. Representatives from the rubber industry learned about the future of nuclear energy, sustainable value creation, cybersecurity challenges and the dangers of stress and burnout at work.

On the second day of the meeting, the professionals took part in a very useful and interesting factory visit. The Continental‘s plant in Veszprém started production more than 30 years ago. It has its own development centre and the largest test track in Eastern Europe, where nearly 600 development engineers work. Their task is to develop and test electronic braking systems (ABS, ESC) and their components.

Within the group, their centre is the overall project leader for ESC (Electronic Stability Control). Its aim is to reduce the number of off-track accidents and it therefore plays a very important role in today’s modern cars and is essential to maintain the controllability of high-performance sports and luxury cars. Their sensor development team is the centre of competence for Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS) design. The measured values provide information about the battery’s state of charge (SOC), state of aging (SOH), and the battery’s expected starting capability (SOF).

For years, the factory has been one of the most successful companies and the largest employer in Veszprém County.

The Rubber Industry Association’s annual conference not only provided an opportunity for professional development, but also strengthened our community. We are committed to sustainable innovation so that together we can shape the future of the rubber industry.
